School Group Bookings
Bring your class to the National Science and Technology Centre for an enriching, educational, and fun experience! In addition to our Exhibitions and Special Events, our theatre troupe, The Excited Particles, perform various shows daily. (If there’s a show in particular you’re interested in having your class attend, make note of it on your booking form and we’ll do our best to see that it’s on while you’re here.)
Hours and Prices
Questacon is open every day between 9 am and 5 pm. (closed 25 December) It's a big place, with lots to do, so we recommend you allow at least two hours for your group's visit.
If you're looking for something different, how about bringing your class for an after-hours visit to Q by Night!
Please supervise your group during their visit. Depending on the age of the group, we'll let you bring in a number of supervisors for free.
| 2009 Price | Free Supervisor to Student Ratio* |

| Pre-school | $11.50 | 1:4 |
| Primary | $11.50 | 1:10 |
| Secondary | $11.50 | 1:15 |
| Tertiary | $13 | 1:15 |
Before Your Visit
Questacon combines fun with the opportunity to gain insights into the world of science and technology. It can also be an integral and stimulating part of your class program.
Students will benefit from being informed about the Centre, its facilities and what is expected of them during and after the visit. Studies show that students who are well prepared for a visit are more likely to gain from the experience. Check our page of current exhibitions for an idea of what's currently on in the Centre - we tend to have a new exhibition or two every year. Each exhibition has pre-visit educational materials, including suggested activities for your class.
Arrival
Have your bus stop at the eastern (High Court) side of the building. Once a you or your driver comes in to let us know that you're here and the final group numbers we'll come out and brief you and your students to come into the building. Never been to Questacon before? Here's where you'll find us.
Our Facilities
- Lockers: It would be best if students left their bags on the bus. We have a few, but not many, lockers available for large groups.
- Disabilities: The Centre and our exhibitions are designed to be accessible to visitors in wheelchairs.
- Food: The Café has ready-made sandwiches, snacks and drinks or you can pre-order lunch for your whole group. There is lots of open parkland around the Centre where you can eat (and kick a footy!) but if it is raining ask us about somewhere for your group to to eat inside.
- Souvenirs: The Gift Shop has a wide range of science toys, experiment kits and books, with many items that are priced so most students can afford to buy a reminder of their visit. Be sure to leave enough time for shopping before your bus leaves!
- Insurance: Our NSW DET risk assessment and liability insurance certificate of currency are both available for download.
Post-visit Suggestions
Each of our exhibitions have a range of teacher notes and suggested class activities linked to the science (and sometimes other) curricula in each state.
And if you liked or didn't what you saw during your visit, we'd love if you'd fill out a Customer Feedback form to help us improve for next time.
